DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES

Creative Dance
For the entry level young student.  This is an introduction to all types of dance.

Pre-Ballet
Entry level for a formal ballet class at ages 6-8 years.

Tap/Ballet
Mixed class for the young beginner.  One to two years only, then transfer to straight tap and/or ballet class.

Tap
A great way to express yourself through your feet.  With its high energy toe tapping steps, this form of dance incorporates movement, rhythm, & sound as its fundamental basics.

Ballet
One of the most classical & technical forms of dance, it demands precision and elegance through specific strength training rituals.  With patience and dedication the technique & strength acquired from taking ballet class will become an important foundation for a training dancer.  It is also an excellent workout for those who are looking for an alternative exercise routine.

Jazz
While similar to Hip Hop because of its fun & high energy nature, it is also closely related with the technical precision that Ballet demands.  With its specific warm-up routine & strength training exercises, a jazz dancer can reap the benefits of being strong & flexible as well as enjoying the freedom of expression & personal creativity.

Hip Hop
A great place to be if you want to feel free and unencumbered.  Because of its unbridled and less structured nature, Hip Hop dancing is a fun way to discover new moves & routines to fun, upbeat music.

Lyrical
A mixture of Modern, Jazz, and Ballet danced to slower contemporary music.  Students should have at least 2 years of ballet.

Theatre Dance
A choreography class using music and style of Broadway shows.  Students also learn some history of the show that they are working on.

Stretch & Tone
For the Adults who want a light workout with emphases on flexibility and relaxation. A yoga-based morning class for Seniors only is also available.

Contemporary                                                            A style of dance that incorporates free form movement with modern dance technique.  This dance style has been made popular by the dance show So You Think You Can Dance.

Zumba                                                                    Fuses hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away.  The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.  Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you’ve got ZUMBA!
